Just An Observation.....
I noticed this earlier in the evening BUT just thought it was only temporary and didn't think anymore of it. BUT it seems it's been a continuous thing. Severe storms have been making their way across the eastern part of Arkansas and KTHV seems to be the only Little Rock station with its map up in the lower left indicating the counties with the warnings. OK now as of 9:36pm, KARK has stuck up its severe weather map in the lower left. Nothing on KATV. Additional: It seems KARK has been taking down the alert map during commercials...could explain why I may not have seen it earlier.
UPDATE: 10:55pm Severe Thunderstorm warning has been issued for Pulaski County AND NO indication of it on KATV. KARK and KTHV have both ran crawls and have up the graphic in the lower left.
UPDATE: 10:57pm Looks as though KATV's alert system may be on the blink as the graphic was just stuck up...Ohh.....here we go..storm alert finally picked it up.

I noticed that KARK is taking the severe weather map out during commercials as well. Do they care more about commercials than the well being of the public?
You obviously don't work in sales. Some clients (both national and local) will cry for a make-good if their spot runs with a crawl or radar on the screen. It's a money thing.
DUH.
BUT if your viewers get blown away, there won't be any reason to advertise. DUH.
Ha, ha. My response was cold, hard, simple truth. Yours is a weak, extreme emotional exaggeration. Viewers are more likely to notice a crawl during a broadcast, or catch a break-in report, anyway. It's called research. DUH.
I hate all those severe weather graphics that clutter the screen. Here's the deal... if there is severe weather tonight... watch out! You don't need a map of Arkansas to know the weather is bad outside.
Instead of looking at TV... try looking out the window !!!!
Taking the Map out during breaks is a NexStar thing.. If there is a severe warning of any kind it should be left on the screen. but the management of NexStar is soooo screwed up they could care less about their viewers, all they care about is money..
